Me and Lola

Anders Osborne is a New Oreleans based artist that I was not aware of until recently. "Me and Lola" is from his CD "Ash Wednesday Blues" released in 2001. If you are new to Anders, this is a good place to start.

I'm here with Lola, I'm talking too much,
cheap cigars and shooting stoli straight.
Shes got them sad eyes,
I'm making no sense
she knows my story and how its all to late.
Since her heart got, broke to pieces,
she hates herself and every man
She stays with me cuz I'm weak and wasted.
She tells me nothing that's why I don't understand.

Me and lola
In the midnight hour
crowded barroom, feeling all alone.

She says I'm tricky, I think its funny,
how my mind keeps wandering back in time.
She thinks I'm lying about that money,
and how I spent it all on peace of mind.
I know it s stupid, and plenty useless.
Its done me nothing but to drink some more
I filled my life with bad excuses, peace at heart,
is what I'm looking, that's what I'm looking for.

Me and Lola
In the midnight hour
crowded barroom, feeling all alone.

I cant help thinkin, maybe someday,
we'd leave this dark place for a better life
I'd be your lover, sons and daughters,
but Lola's happy just being someone's wife
I'll go visit her up in the mountains,
in the dead of winter when the cold wind blows.
I would still live down in the bayous
so when I die I'll float to Mexico oh down to Mexico.

Me and lola
In the midnight hour
crowded barroom, feeling all alone.
